3/4 cup margarine or butter
1 cup dark brown sugar
3 egg yolks
1 1/4 cup sour milk (add 1 TB vinegar to milk)
1 tsp baking soda
2 1/3 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp each of cloves and cinnamon
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

Cream butter and brown sugar.
Add egg yolks and blend
Mix dry ingredients together and add slowly to brown sugar
mixture alternating with the sour milk
Add vanilla and mix thoroughly.
Spread the cake dough in a long and deep cake pan and cover
with Meringue

Meringue
3 egg whites beaten stiff (not dry)
Add one cup brown sugar, slowly
Beat until smooth
Spread this over the raw cake batter and sprinkle with 1/2-3/4
cup of broken pecans.

Bake at 350 for 45-50 min.
