Congo Bars

Peckham, at least fifty years ago.'
Preheat oven to 350

Sift together and set aside:
2 1/2 Cups Gold Medal Flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Cream together:
2/3 Cup shortening (Crisco)
2 1/2 Cups light brown sugar

Beat in:
3 eggs
Mix in flour mixture
Stir in:
12 ounce pkg chocolate chips, or 12 ounces, M&M's (pkg) or
M&M cooking bits
(can use butterscotch chips too)

Spread into 10 by 15 inch jelly roll pan (cookie sheet with 3/4
inch sides)
Bake about 25 minutes until center is jst set.
Do not overbake, or they will be hard as rocks!
Cut 10 minutes after you remove them from oven.
Remove from pan after you cut them, or you will have to chop
them!
