Chocolate Cake and Icing

The best chocolate cake ever and was made for us for our birthdays!
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 stick butter
2-3 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 cups flour
4 squares unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1cup boiling water

Pre-heat oven to 350

Mix sugar and butter well then add the eggs.
Sift dry ingredients (set aside)
Melt chocolate (slowly, not to burn) and add to sugar mixture
Alternately, add milk and flour mixture to the sugar, butter, and egg mixture
Then add vanilla and boiling water.
*Batter will be very thin*

Pour batter into two round, or one 9x12 oven safe pans (treat with cooking spray,
butter or Crisco prior to pouring batter)

Bake until a toothpick comes out with just a slight amount of cake mixture on it.
(approximately 20-25 minutes)
Do not keep in oven until toothpick comes out clean as cake will be dry.****

Cool completely before adding the chocolate icing.

Chocolate Icing:
1 pkg powdered sugar
1 stick butter
4 squares unsweetened chocolate
Evaporated milk

Sift powdered sugar
Melt chocolate and butter together
Add to the powdered sugar and mix well
Slowly add small amounts of the evaporated milk to this mixture until it is smooth
