Chicken and Rice in Oven
2 split chicken breasts (4 pieces) or 4 legs
1-4oz can mushroom pieces
1 chopped up onion
1 cup uncooked rice
salt, pepper, and about 3/4 teaspoon of thyme
2 1/2 cups liquid consisting of water, & the juice from the drained
mushrooms and white cheap wine, chicken boullion - or just plain
water and the mushroom juice (if you are poor that week)

Brown chicken in crisco (in a skillet)
If you rather not brown it, paint the chicken with 'kitchen bouquet'

Mix all the other ingredients together and put in a casserole or a
rectangular cake pan.
Put the chicken on top.
Cover the dish, aluminum foil tightly fitted over the top is fine.

Bake in 350 oven for an hour
Uncover the last 20 minutes so chicken will get good and brown

If you have some left over, the next day take a can of cream of
anything (mushroom, celery, or chicken) soup.  Pour it right out of
the can over the left overs, spread it around all over smoothly and
sick it back in the oven at 350 til it's hot.
